Answer:
Elijah will come back during the first three and one-half years of the tribulation period. If Christ had been accepted by the Jewish nation at His first Coming, John the Baptist would have been the fulfillment of the prophecies about Elijah. But God foreknew and John the Baptist was not Elijah and Elijah will still come right after the Rapture.
