Question:
Hi Dr. Lindstrom, Jim in Clw. Would you give the definition of what “grace” really is, and thanks in advance.
Answer:
Grace means mercy, unmerited favor, etc. Grace is mercy bestowed totally without works. Romans 11:6b says, ‘But if it be of works: then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.’ Grace could be explained many different ways, but I think the best way to understand it is God sending His Son to die for our sins not because he had to, but because God loved us. It’s God doing for us what we could not do ourselves. Grace means that in spite of someone’s shortcomings we are given mercy and compassion through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus paid it all and offers free eternal life to all that would believe on Him.
