Q # 5517199

Question:

Hank, if the “works of the law” are keeping what the law says, then what is the “work of faith”? (See 1 Th 1:3 & 2 Th 1:11) If under the law you do works, then under faith, what is its work? The works of the law are works, therefore the work of faith has to be trusting/believing, right? (See John 6:27-36) Are there not two works of faith described in the Bible? One is when you have faith in God thru Jesus and are saved and the other is our faith in Him in our daily lives, right? The Word says, “The just [deals with the former faith] shall live by faith [latter faith]. Is not faith, the work of the mind in contrast to the work of the law which is physical labor, etc.?

Answer:

FAITH IS TRUST. You must believe [trust] what God says. What God says about Salvation! We cannot work to be saved. Works have no part. Jesus paid it all. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” What God says about the Christian life! We are born again unto good works. Believers ought to work. God has ordained that believers should work. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
