Q # 4590094

Question:

Dr. Lindstrom, when Jesus was crucified, were the nails put through his hands or his wrists. I think I’ve read or heard both. Thanks.

Answer:

The anatomy of the hand included the wrist. Evidence from archaeology has shown that the Romans would crucify by driving the nails between the two small bones in the wrist. Apparently the body weight would not be supported by nailing through the hands. We will wait and see.
