Q # 5145544

Question:

Recently on your radio show you quoted D.L. Moody say, “The whosoever wills, are the elect and the whosoever won’ts, are the nonelect.” HE IS WRONG. John 1:13, says that those who become sons of God are “born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” A person could will to go to Heaven all day long every day of his or her life (and many do) but never get there. This is where God’s soverignty comes in at. God is the one who chooses who will be saved and He does this on the requirement that He has set for eternal salvation. D.L. Moody should have said, “Whosoever believes (on/in Jesus as God & Savior), are the elect, and the whosoever won’ts, are the nonelect.”

Answer:

You are right! And that is what I understood D.L. Moody to be saying. That those who willed or chose to believe on Christ would be saved and those who willed or chose not to believe on Christ would be lost. Thanks for the clarification.
