Q # 1971934

Question:

9-16-2002; I believe I heard you say that you can’t keep the law. Are you wise? (Prov.28:7 – Whoso keepeth the law is a wise man) Are you happy? (Prov. 29:18 – …but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.) Luke 1:8 – Zechariah and Elisabeth were righteous before God; walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. Acts 21:20-24 – (speaking about Paul) …(you) walkest orderly, and keepest the law. Acts 22:12 – Annanias… devout observer of Torah. Psalms 119:44 – so shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. Preachers use James 2:10 (For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, is guilty of all) to say that you can’t keep the law. When I was growing up, I attended Passover seders; and I heard about the children of Israel putting an “X” on the door so that the death angel would “pass over” them. They “offended” the law by not believing God’s Word. I also heard them tell how the children walked on dry ground after the Red Sea “dried up”. They offended God’s law, again, by not believing God’s holy Word. To me, “keeping” God’s law means just simply “believing” Him. (Abraham believed God, and it was accounted unto him for righteousness) The equivilent of this the idea that preachers say they believe the Bible, but say that they don’t believe in the virgin birth, or don’t believe that Jesus rose from the dead. They have offended the “law” at several points, and are guilty of all! Your comment, please.

Answer:

Jesus said, in John 7:19, “Did not Moses give you the law and yet NONE OF YOU KEEPETH THE LAW? The law being the laws given from Mt. Sinai.
