Q # 9191855

Question:

Dr. Lindstrom, I believe that Jesus paid for all of our sins…past present and future on Calvary, and I believe even we Believers sin every day to some extent which brings me to my question; As Believers, should we be asking God, every day in our prayers, to forgive the sins of that day, or is this not necessary? I’m questioning whether asking forgiveness for every sin every day is adding works to salvation or not. Thanks for your answer.

Answer:

We are already forgiven from the moment that we trust Christ as Savior. We should confess our sins as we sin (see I John 1:8,9) and then thank the Lord for having forgiven them. See Ephesians 4:30.
