You are referring to Philipians 2:12. Notice that it does not say, ‘work FOR your salvation’, but you are to work OUT your salvation. Read the context. It is God who works in you and He want to be a shining light in this dark world. This is talking about letting our salvation be seen by others in ‘fear and trembling’ because we will have to give an account one day for rewards or loss of rewards.
