Question:
Mr. Lindstrom, We have been wondering about Satan’s power. Where does he get it from? What are his powers? Can he be in two places at once? Can he effect your dreams and thoughts? If so, how? Can he change the weather or the landscape? How does he blind the minds of unbeleavers? Is he more than just an angel? Why has God allowed him to carry on this way? How big is he? Is he a spirit that fills the whole earth or just like a man? How many angels does he have? Signed, confused but saved!
Answer:
Dear Confused. Satan was given his power by God when he was created and given authority over the earth. His title was “God of this world”. II Corinthians 4:4. He cannot be in two places at once. He can influence us through three areas. The ‘lust of the eyes’, ‘the lust of the flesh’, and the ‘pride of life’. See I John 3:16. Satan used all three to tempt Eve in the garden. He can bring storms and effect the weather. He is more than an angel. Satan is angel that brought sin into the universe. God gave all the angels choice. Satan chose to reject God. Satan is the same size as all the other angels. He is not omnipresent and controls one-third of the created angels.
