Q # 3015303

Question:

In Revalation, Ch.3, Jesus rebukes the Laodicean church as “lukewarm”, and says He will spew (vomit) them out of His mouth. Some have said that the letters to the Asian churches actually are to the Church in different historical periods, with Laodicea being the present time. If this is the case, how can one be assured that he is not “lukewarm”, and he will not be among those spewed out?

Answer:

This is speaking of the loss of service. Each church was a ‘lampstand’ and a light in this dark world. As each church failed, their light was snuffed out and they were replaced by the succeeding church the the different historical periods. A Christ cannot be lost [ John 6:37,39 ], but our opportunity to service, our rewards, our joy, our effectiveness, etc. can be lost. See II John verse 8.
