Question:
Dear Pastor Lindstrom – I listen to your show and have attended Calvary Community Church. For a couple of years I have been witnessing to a (Jewish) friend where I work. He is admittedly prejudiced against blacks and posed this question to me: Where did the black race come from? If we are all genetically linked to Adam and Eve, why the variations in color? (He uses this arguement to support his theory of evolution). I attempted to point to the three lineages that grew out of Noah’s sons – Shem, Ham and Japheth following the flood. I understand his questions are but a smoke screen hiding the underlying fact that he just does not believe in Jehovah God (despite the fact that he has travelled to Israel recently). He is searching and I am praying and I would appreciate your help to his quetion. You are mightly used of God and much appreciated – May God Bless you and yours… R. Steven Edel
Answer:
The first and obvious answer is that Black people, Yellow people, White people, etc., all came from Adam and Even. In this sense, we are all brothers and sisters. On the other hand, Believers as Sons of God are brothers and Sisters and not related to unbelievers (this is the big picture)! Many myths have been given as for the existence of the races. I believe the races occurred at the same time that languages were confounded at the Tower of Babel! This is in Genesis chapter 11 which is after the flood of Noah. We must continue to pray for the people that are Jewish for their salvation and for the Peace of Jerusalem. The secular view is that being exposed to the sun some peoples became over time darker than others. People living at the equater are usually darker than those living closer to the poles. Some day we will know the answer. The Scriptures do not give a clear answer.
