Question: “I’ve found this to be a challenging topic, but I understand that when you have the Holy Spirit, you have it forever; regarding the Christian walk would it make sense that the more you yield to the Spirit, the more you feel the Holy Spirit working in your life? And the more you yield to the flesh, the less you feel the Holy Spirit working in your life? That’s just what makes the most sense to me. Hopefully, you can give some insight and could help me understand this topic better. Thanks!”
Answer: I tend to avoid relying on feelings to indicate spiritual growth. Instead, I measure spiritual growth by the fruit in my life (cf. 2 Peter 1:5-8; John 15:1-17). I can really see only one passage that talks about “feeling” something when you yield to the Lord. See Philippians 4:6-7.
