Question:
Dr. Lindstrom – Is the Baptist Church in line with bible doctrine? Do they believe in the calvinist view? Thank you in advance for your help.
Answer:
The Baptist’s are generally fundamental in their beliefs. They believe in eternal security. Once saved always saved which is true. They focus on the ordinance of Baptism as a testimony of the believer being cleansed by the blood. Each Baptist church has to be judged on the clarity of it’s pastor. All too often the Baptist invitation for salvation mixes works with salvation. A misunderstanding of repentance in salvation requiring a ‘turning from sin’ for salvation which is works. See my paper on repentance on this web-site. Sometimes public confession by walking the church aisle is a requirement for salvation and etc. Charles Stanley is an example of a Baptist pastor who has a great presentation whom I personally like.
