Q # 5317112

Question:

January 10, 2001. Was Adam’s sin unto death, Adam’s first sin? The Bible does not say that it was his first sin. Am I wrong, can you show me where the Bible says that this sin unto death was Adam’s first sin? Most people assume that it was his first sin, wouldn’t you agree? Not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the commandment with a penalty attached to it. There was no punishment to any other sin. Murder did not have a penalty to it until after Cain killed Abel. That is why God forbid any one to take the life of Cain. If the sin unto death was Adam’s first sin then he would have had to be perfect up to the time he committed this sin unto death. In order for Adam to be perfect and holy, he would have to had walked as Christ did in perfect submission to the Father every second of the day. He would have to had the mind of Jesus in order to be perfect and holy. He would have to had the same will as the Son of God to be perfect and holy. No man could have any of those characteristics of the Lord, including Adam, could he? No, only Jesus was perfect and holy. That is why Jesus alone is God. Would you not agree?

Answer:

We can speculate all we want, but the bottom line is that Adam sinned and death passed upon all men. Romans 5:12. Adam was created ‘innocent’, not perfect. Adam was tested and failed. We are suffering the consequences today.
