Question:
This is more of a comment about Friday’s discussion on “angels”. You said that all the angels were “male”. There may be an exception. Zech.5:9-10 speaks about two women with wings like stork wings. Also, you said that angels don’t sing. There may be a “hint” that they do. In Rev.5:9-10, (these are not angels doing this) they “sung” a new song “saying”… Here, “singing” and “saying” are the same thing! Ps.66:4 …all the earth shall “WORSHIP” thee, and shall “sing” unto thee, they shall “sing” to thy name. (Again, not speaking about angels) But in Heb.1:6, is says …let all the angels of God “WORSHIP” Him. Now, If God loves the whole earth to “sing” to Him, and in Zeph.3:17, it says that He (The LORD) will joy over thee with “singing”; and He “created” all things (including angels) to “worship” Him, there may be a good possibility that angels do, in fact, “sing”! Your comment on this.
Answer:
Zechariah 5:9-10 is not talking about angels. Keep in mind that angels are masculine. There are NO female angels. Secondly, I can’t help but quote J. Veernon McGee… He said concerning Zechariah 5:9-10 “The had wings like the wings of a stork” – that is, powerful wings. In Scripture the stork is not a picture of an angel. It is a dirty bird, an unclean bird.” The vision of the woman in the basket is the embodiment or symbolizes sin and wickedness. It must be removed from God’s people and sent back to Shinar or rather Babylon, which is the symbol of sin and wickedness in the Babylon. The two women are protective of this evil. The agents of God – Assyria and Babylon carrying off evil out of the land. In Revelation 5:9,10 we have the four living creatures [not angels] and the 24 elders [redeemed men and not angels]. Psalm 66:4 deals with the earth [people] NOT angels. Zeph. 3:17 is not all creation, but deals with the restoration of Israel and their greatfulness. The is NO connection with angels and singing in these verses. It was a good study, but it is impossible to make that hyper leap out to conclude that there is a possible appearance of angels singing as a proof that they sing. To the contrary, it appears that angels do not sing.
