Question:
Hank, Do you fell that Pilate became a Christian? John 18:29 Asks what accusations the people have. John 18:31 He didn’t want to judge him. John 18:33 He asks if Jesus was the King of the Jews. John 18:34 Jesus asks if he knew it or was told (Why did Jesus say this?)John 18:37 Pilate ask him if he was a King. John 18: Jesus says to Pilate “Thou sayest that I am a King”, So Pilate must of been referring to him as a King. John 18:38 Pilate declares to the people that he finds no fault in Jesus. John 19:1 Pilate scourged him. But, back in Luke 23:22 we find that Pilate asked 3 time what evil he has done and that he found no fault with Jesus. He would scourge him and send him away. Maybe he was looking for a way out of the situation. John 19:4 Pilate finds no fault. John 19:6 Pilate finds no fault. John 19:8 Pilate was more afraid and that would imply that he was afraid already. What was he afraid of? He was more afraid after the Jews said that Jesus declared himself the Son of God. So did he believe it?John 19:12 Pilate sought to release him. John 19:14 Pilate presented him as King to the Jews. Did he mean it? John 19:15 Pilate want to know if they really want to crucify there King. John 19:19 Pilate wrote JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. John 19:22 Pilate says “What I have written, I have written” I noticed that he wrote it boldly in print and he made the statement . He also didn’t care what the people thought and he didn’t allow them to change it as I see it. We do not know another mans heart, but it seems that Pilate did not want to judge Jesus and found no fault. He also boldly declared Jesus of Nazareth as the King of the Jews. Sorry my question was so long. Ron
Answer:
No, I do not believe that Pilate ever trusted Christ as Savior. He was a classic politician and comprised the truth to please the people. Sadly, I don’t believe that we will see Pilate in heaven.
