Question:
Dr. Lindstrom, concerning all the works all the disciples did in the New Testament, in particular Peter: after Peter had denied Christ three times during the time of Christ’s crucifixion, would Peter still have been saved if he had continued to deny Christ and had never worked for Christ after that time?
Answer:
Yes, because salvation is based on the ‘work of Christ’ and not the ‘works of Peter’. Peter would have lost out on blessings and rewards, but not his salvation. Check out Romams 8:38-39 which states, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
