Question:
Dr. Lindstrom, Please explain to me why you don’t think that REV. 3:20 is a salvation verse. I know the church was saved and they thought that they were sufficiant without Jesus and Jesus wanted to get back into their lives, but it sounds like a great verse to accept Jesus. Is it really wrong to let people know that Jesus is at the door knocking and if you hear His voice and open the door and{accept His GIFT of SALVATION}he will open and sup with you? Please explain. thanks. G.G.
Answer:
1) The door is the door of the church at Laodicea. 2) The topic is fellowship NOT salvation. 3) Notice the phrase ‘SUP WITH ME’. It is talking about supper. Sitting down and enjoying each others company and a meal. 4) Salvation is about ‘TRUSTING’ CHRIST. The death, burial, and resurrection. Not mentioned here. OPENING A DOOR WILL NOT SAVE YOU BUT TRUSTING CHRIST WILL.
