However, in Acts 1:16-18, specifically in verse 18, Luke says that “falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out”.

Both passages are true. Apparently Judas hanged himself and did a bad job. Either the rope broke or maybe the tree branch broke and Judas plunged headlong upon the rocks below and his bowels gushed out.
