Question:
Feb.03, 2001; Concerning Exodus 20:11, you are correct to say that the verse does not use the word “created” in it. Nevertheless, the word “made” in the verse refers to not only the “heaven and earth, the sea” but also to “all that in them is.” Clearly (dealing with this last phrase) the scriptures in Genesis says that God created man and the animals within six days. The word “made” in Exodus 20:11 would then include the word “create” in it. It seems to me that this verse includes the “heaven and earth, the sea’ within the six days and therefore the age of the earth could never be millions of years old. Your comments please.
Answer:
This is true and the word ‘MADE MEANS TO APPOINT OR ORDAIN’. It is a declaration of the function of the earth, stars, sun, seas, moon, and etc. The word “MADE” does not imply a creative act. In I Kings 12:31-33, we see an example of the word ‘made’ being used. “Made priests of the lowest of the people” speaks of a purpose, function, that men were ordained to; or appointed to.
