Dear Dr. Lindstrom,Listening to your radio broadcast 1/15/02, I understood you to say Baptism is not necessary for salvation because these were works of man. Did I understand you correctly, and what about the statements in the book of Acts which always include baptism after acknowledging and accepting Jesus as Savior.
Answer:
Water baptism is a picture of how we are washed in the Blood of the Lamb. Water can never take away sin, but is a testimony of our salvation. The dying thief was never baptised, but he was saved upon belief. Luke 23:43. We practice water baptism, but only baptise the saved as a testimony of how they WERE CLEANSED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS. Revelation 1:5.
