Question:
Dear Dr. Lindstrom. I know the Bible tells us not to judge, but there is a certain tv evangelist, that I stopped channel surfing one day just long enough for him to say that Adam and Eve could fly when the were created otherwise they could not have had dominion over the birds in the air. I realize this is non sense and I also think it is an accursed message. It disgusts me to see some of these people turn their shows into the equivalent of carnival side shows, such as, this preacher slinging his suit coat, breathing or blowing on people, or lightly touching them on the head, and of course they fall out, to be caught by two “catchers” standing behind them. I wonder how many of these people would fall if they were told there would be no more “catchers”, that if the spirit of God really made them fall, then the spirit of God would not allow them to be hurt when they fell to the floor. That stuff really bothers me. Am I being judgmental, or am I rightly dividing the word and seeing an accursed message? Thanks.
Answer:
I believe we can judge when it is clear that the Bible is being violated and a false message is preached. Take a look at Isaiah 8:20. “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
